Main Components Of An Overhead Crane and Their Working Principle
An overhead crane mainly consists of a main beam, end beams, a hoisting mechanism, a crane moving mechanism, a control room, a trolley conductive device (auxiliary slide line), and a main power conductive device (main slide line).
The lifting mechanism includes a hoisting motor, reducer, drum, and brake. The hoisting motor is connected to the reducer through the coupling and brake wheel, and the reducer’s output shaft is connected to the winding drum of the steel wire rope. The other end of the steel wire rope is equipped with a hook. As the drum rotates, the hook rises or falls with the winding or releasing of the steel wire rope on the drum.
The heavy objects on the hook move up and down with the drum’s rotation; the trolley moves left and right across the workshop’s width, and the cart moves forward and backward along the workshop’s length.
This allows the overhead crane to move heavy objects in perpendicular, horizontal, and vertical directions, positioning them anywhere in the workshop to complete lifting and transportation tasks.
